I am a proud father of twin ten year olds, and business owner, community activist, and a very proud immigrant to the United States who played by the rules, and became a US citizen in 2000.
I was born in Sri Lanka which is an island nation near India. My parents are both acclaimed academics and insisted on a strong education value for us. Our family and community values are strong within our communities both overseas and here in the United States.
I came here in 1992 seeking the best education system in the world, and studied at Idaho State University, earning my degree and expanding ISU's community involvement.
I fell in love with America and the West there and worked to become a US citizen. I came to Las Vegas after graduation and started a Real Estate and Mortgage Lending business that thrives today, even in a stressed marketplace.
I've worked with many local charities and groups such as the Lions Club, Asian Chamber of Commerce, homeless care and advocacy, Shade Tree, the Salvation Army and literacy exchanges where used books are donated by US students to help those overseas.
I spearheaded 2004 Tsunami relief for the Las Vegas community, and worked with people and businesses across the political spectrum here to deliver one of the highest per capita donation volumes from the US.
That effort showed me that I could work across the aisle, build consensus and get things accomplished. I know Carson City will not be easy, but I also know that I am up to the task, and I will work tirelessly to represent our entire Assembly District for a better quality of life for all of us.
I respectfully ask for your vote this summer. Early Voting begins July 26th and ends August 8th, and primary day is August 12th.
If you have any questions, or would like me to come and speak to your group, just give me a call and let's begin working toward solutions that will benefit us all.
